If you have a phrasebook that needs to be written, please add it below. The format for a request is:

Note that you don't have to put a justification on this page in order to start a phrasebook yourself! You can just go ahead and start the phrasebook.

Also note that the phrasebook you are looking for may already exist - check the list of phrasebooks.

  • A Bangla phrasebook would be nice to see here. As Bangla is the 5th most spoken language in the world.

  • Kalmyk phrasebook The official and indigenous language of Kalmykia. It's endangered and therefore should be used by travelers to the region in order to encourage its use by the locals.

  • Maltese phrasebook One of the official languages of the country of Malta, and the only language from the Semitic family written in a variant of the Latin Alphabet. Also an official language of the European Union.

  • Manchu phrasebook The language of Manchuria, still spoken by some Manchus in China today.

  • Scottish Gaelic phrasebook. Although native speakers are declining, more and more signs and publications are being produced in Scottish Gaelic, also those localities in the western extremeties of Scotland where Gaelic is spoken daily, often massively appreciate a visitor being able to speak their ancestral tongue. On a side note: doing so earned me a drink! I'm not knowledgable enough to start an article on Scottish Gaelic myself however.

  • Friulian phrasebook I think that the new orthography can be used over the old one in this phrasebook, but the old one is optional. It's also recognized as a minority language in Italy, I guess. --(WT-en) CurvyEthyl 18:08, 25 September 2010 (EDT)
  • Leonese phrasebook There's a celebration in the city of León (Leonese: Llión) called the Leonese Language Day (Día de la Llingua Llïonesa). The date for that celebration varies. --(WT-en) CurvyEthyl 15:32, 25 September 2010 (EDT)
  • Khanty phrasebook One of the official and indigenous languages of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug. It's endangered and therefore should be used by travelers to the region.
  • Mansi phrasebook One of the official and indigenous languages of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug. It's endangered and therefore should be used by travelers to the region.
  • Xibe phrasebook The official language of the Qapqal Xibe Autonomous County.
  • Nenets phrasebook The official and indigenous language of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. It's still widely used by the Nenets people but is threatened by Russification.
