2016 WMF Strategy consultation

Hello, all.

The Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) has launched a consultation to help create and prioritize WMF strategy beginning July 2016 and for the 12 to 24 months thereafter. This consultation will be open, on Meta, from 18 January to 26 February, after which the Foundation will also use these ideas to help inform its Annual Plan. (More on our timeline can be found on that Meta page.)

Your input is welcome (and greatly desired) at the Meta discussion, 2016 Strategy/Community consultation.

Apologies for English, where this is posted on a non-English project. We thought it was more important to get the consultation translated as much as possible, and good headway has been made there in some languages. There is still much to do, however! We created m:2016 Strategy/Translations to try to help coordinate what needs translation and what progress is being made. :)

关于手机版页面的问题

如题，我发现我们中文手机版的条目Banner与标题是分开的(我说的不是首页部分，是城市或旅行话题等之类的)，而英文手机版的条目条目Banner与标题是合在一起的，与我们所看到的电脑版一样。我试过了但修不好，请协助帮忙一下=.=--✈YURIY ✉想聊啥?! Ⓟ海纳百川 2016年2月17日 (三) 23:39 (CST)[回复]

Maps for Wikivoyage

Dear Wikivoyage community, I would like to update you on the progress with our Maps efforts, and make a small request.

Our maps service has been running without problems for many months. It is a stable and secure map tile platform, capable of much higher web traffic than our current labs OSM service, which is slow, unmaintained, and has crashed on numerous occasions. You may include new maps on every Wikivoyage page without causing any server overload problems.

Very soon we plan to roll out Kartographer extension to Wikivoyage. You can try it here. Kartographer supports many styles of marks, with icons and auto-numbering. Kartographer also has Visual Editor support.

While we are getting ready for the release of Kartographer, we are asking the community to help switch to this new maps tile service. The English and Russian Wikivoyage projects have already moved to this service (Here's an example - Albany). With the benefits we mentioned, we are asking projects to switch for one important reason. Right now, any visitor viewing a page that contains a map not hosted by the WMF sends information to a third-party (for example, Mapquest). This violates our privacy policy. Visitors may choose to switch to an external map, but they should be aware of that decision. For more information, please see the discussion below about this important topic at the English Wikivoyage.

The Wikimedia Maps service may not be perfect, but we think it is important to not compromise user's privacy by just visiting a page.

There are two places that need to change:

The new maps service will be further improved with the upcoming Kartographer extension. While we are not ready to deploy Kartographer just yet, we also ask to help review the extension ahead of time. Please help review Kartographer extension documentation and our demo, and see if it meets your needs, or if anything should be changed. Please leave us a note on the Kartographer extension talk page if you have any feedback.

你知道吗？

在老手编辑之中，视觉化编辑器的表格编辑功能是最多人使用的功能之一。

这张截图是显示某表格里，字段操作的弹出式选单

如果你选择了某直栏的顶端或某横列的末端，你可以快速地插入或移除栏与列。

现在，你也可以重新调整列与行。点击“移动列/行至上方/下方/左侧/右侧”来调换邻近的直栏或横列。

你可以阅读并协助翻译使用手册，其中有关于如何使用视觉化编辑器的更多相关资讯。

自上期电子报发行以来，视觉化编辑器团队修复了许多漏洞。 其工作内容已经在Phabricator内发布。 他们当下的优先要务是改善支援日文、韩文、阿拉伯文、印度文以及汉文的语言服务，并且改善单一切换编辑标签界面。

近期更动

您可以在开始编辑后于视觉化编辑器与Wikitext编辑器之间切换。这项功能已经在大部分的维基上提供给几乎所有的使用者，而维基辞典与维基文库除外。

许多在本地的视觉化编辑器回馈页面已经重新导向至mw:VisualEditor/Feedback。

未来更新

单一编辑按钮计划将会把“编辑”按钮以及“编辑源代码”按钮合并为单一个“编辑”按钮。 这与目前已经在手机版网页上使用的系统类似。 (T102398) 一开始，“编辑”会开启您最后使用的编辑环境。 对已登入的使用者来说，您最后选择的编辑环境会储存在账号设定内。而未登入使用者会储存于Cookie内。已登入使用者可以在Special:Preferences内的编辑标签找到相关设定。

  • 记住我上次使用的编辑器、
  • 如果可能，总是让我使用可视化编辑器、
  • 总是让我使用源代码编辑器、以及
  • 向我显示两个编辑器标签。（这是目前有使用视觉化编辑器的使用者的状态。）

视觉化编辑器使用与Special:Search相同的搜索引擎寻找连结与档案。此搜寻功能近期将改善对错别字及拼写错误的侦测。此一更新也会表现在视觉化编辑器上。

是否将维基百科的"十七公里海岸线"迁移至维基导游？

各位朋友们：
我发现维基百科有一个叫十七公里海岸线的条目，不过这个格式与内容不符合维基百科的标准，内容中有很多与我们维基导游的性质一样，如果可行的话，是要挂旅行路线还是旅行话题比较好？虽然十七公里海岸线是新竹市的一条靠海脚踏车路线，但似乎可以创建独立条目（除了新竹的条目中以简单叙述十七公里海岸线，并在独立十七公里海岸线的条目后详细讲解），不知大家有什么好点子呢？--✈YURIY ✉想聊啥?! Ⓟ海纳百川 2016年3月5日 (六) 21:05 (CST)[回复]

Maps trial has began!

We just enabled the new maps support for WikiVoyage. Please see (and help translate) documentation. This is a new functionality, it does not change any existing funcionality. This is a test version, and has many bugs, please do not use it for real pages yet. The goal of this release is for the community to experiment with the early release and steer our development efforts towards what you really need. If you have any requests, please create them here (login by clicking the MediaWiki button).

New features:

  • add maps to pages using <mapframe>
  • add map links to pages using <maplink>
  • add markers and polygons to maps using Visual Editor
  • edit geojson and see how it changes the map on each keystroke
  • add auto-numbered markers (either numbers or letters), and have multiple counters
  • have multiple "groups" of markers/polygons and showing them on the same map or on separate maps (e.g. all food and all drink maps and one combined map)
  • markers and polygons can be of any color
  • markers and polygons can be clicked and will show popups with wiki text and images
  • fast full screen popup maps
